ROBERT'S STORY
Always Thinking of Others
Robert Aguilar, Jr. graduated from University High School in Waco, Texas. He completed his Laser Optics
Degree at TSTC with honors in 1999. He was Senior Engineer at Johnson & Johnson in the Medical Optics
Division. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, billiards, traveling, spending time with his family and
friends, and he never met a stranger. He gave himself to his community and friends without expecting
anything in return. He loved to dance and to go to Pete’s Piano bar. He was a rebel, a fighter, and was an
original member of a biker club. He always encouraged everyone to live their life to the fullest and to
always tell your family and friends you love them, because tomorrow is never promised.
Robert was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in Sept 2017. He fought hard through his chemo and
radiation treatments. His oncology team attempted a Whipple surgery to remove the tumor, which was
unsuccessful. Robert passed away from complications of chemo on Saturday, July 20, 2019. Throughout
his battle with cancer, Robert was always thinking of others. During his battle, he decided to start a non-
profit that supports caregivers and cancer patients. He worried about his wife, children, parents, and
sister and how the role of care giving affected them on a daily basis. He wanted to give back to his
community and provide opportunities for caregivers and cancer patients to take a break from the
worries and stress of the disease process. Robert established Riders for the Storm Charity to provide a
day of fun and relaxation for cancer patients and their care givers.
His family and friends are continuing the legacy he started by keeping this charity alive.
